Outdoor Lighting in Winter

Now that the enchantment of Christmas lights is nearly done, do we have to go back to darkness when we peer out our windows?

A little strategic lighting focusing on a sculpture, or outlining a tree can make us feel less secluded. Low voltage lighting is probably the best, as the sun is not out long enough to regenerated solar lights.
Clear, low voltage light bulbs on Christmas light strings can be used on tree branches (as in this photo).

You can also use inexpensive floodlights to uplight trees (as shown in this photo.

A few tips to keep in mind.
·       ensure your lights do not impair vision from a vehicle.
·       do not position lights so they are aimed at neighbor’s windows (or your own).
·       keep the number of lights reasonable.
·       Use a timer for efficiency and daylight adjustments.

A little effective lighting can make the dark evenings of winter a little less daunting.

  1. You can go for a solar option if you want to; they come in variety of forms like lanterns, walkway, driveway lights and small floodlights. chandeliers
